2025 Players Cup: Round Robin Head-to-Head Championship
Overview
- Entry Fee: $125
- Field Size: 16 players
- Format: Round Robin Head-to-Head net stroke play matches conducted at TGAA events
Payouts
- 1st Place: $750 and Players Cup trophy
- 2nd Place: $500
- 3rd Place: $350
- 4th Place: $200
How It Works
The competition is divided into two stages: a Qualifying Stage and a Knockout Stage.
- Qualifying Stage:
- Entrants are divided into four pods of four players via blind draw.
- Each player competes in three head-to-head 18-hole net stroke play matches.
- Scoring: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss.
- The player with the most points in each pod advances to the Knockout Stage.
- Knockout Stage:
- Semifinals: Single elimination matches (1 vs 4, 2 vs 3).
- Finals and Consolation: Single elimination matches.
Qualifying Round Details
- Match Scheduling: Matches are played at TGAA events when both competitors are registered.
- Timeframe: Pod play begins at the Myrtle Beach Classic and ends by round 2 of the Old Dominion Invitational.
- Competitive Balance: Matches should be played in order for balance; exceptions require Committee approval.
Tiebreakers
2 Players:
- Head-to-head result.
- Total strokes in all matches.
- Net score on the 18th hole working backwards.
3 or 4 Players:
- Total strokes in all matches.
- If two players remain tied: Head-to-head result, then net score on the 18th hole.
- If three or more players remain tied: POY points earned in the tournament.
Knockout Rounds
- Semifinals: Matches are played between University of Maryland and round 2 of the Players Championship.
- Finals and Consolation: Matches are played between Musket Ridge and round 1 of the Invitational at Kingsmill.
- Tiebreaker: Net score on the 18th hole working backwards to hole 1.
Committee Decisions
All decisions regarding match completion and tiebreakers are final.
