The TGAA Tour operates as a professional handicapped golf tour; that is, our Members play with a handicap for cash prizes. Most of your Members, if not all, hold other jobs and participate in the golfing tour either as a second part-time occupation or with the hope of becoming successful enough to convert golfing into the Member’s full-time occupation.
As the Members participate, they of course incur expenses for travel, overnight shelter, meals, golf supplies, golf instructions, golf equipment, repairs to golf equipment (such as the repair of a damaged wood head), medical expenses and related health care expenses such as massage therapy, and automobile expenses at each site. This list may not be exhaustive, but it is included here to make clear the variety of expenses involved.
Because TGAA issues literature either online or hardcopy to its' Members, nothing TGAA provides should constitute tax advice and each member should seek the counsel of their own tax advisor. Nevertheless, it is customary for TGAA to provide a basic tax opinion letter for the general information of our Members, albeit subject to the caveat that each Member should seek his or her own tax advice, and that the opinion letter cannot be blindly relied upon to determine the deductibility of various expenses.
